Create RememberKit drafts from completed trips
Connect BoatKit to a RememberKit blog to turn each completed trip into an unpublished post. The draft starts with the trip's recorded facts and notes. Add your story and photos in RememberKit, then publish when you are ready.
What you need
- Administrator access to a registered BoatKit vessel.
- A RememberKit account that owns at least one blog.
- An Internet connection during setup and when uploading drafts.
RememberKit uses the same sign-in provider as BoatKit. You still approve the connection in RememberKit, which lets you choose an owned blog and grant BoatKit permission to create drafts there.
Connect your blog
- In BoatKit, open Settings > Integrations.
- Select Add Integration, then Cloud Logging > RememberKit.
- Select Connect RememberKit. RememberKit opens in your browser.
- Sign in if prompted. Check that the vessel name and confirmation code match BoatKit, choose your blog in RememberKit, then select Connect this blog.
- Return to BoatKit. The selected blog appears as Linked blog.
- Enable Automatic trip drafts.
If your browser blocks the authorization page, use Open RememberKit authorization in BoatKit. A connection attempt expires after ten minutes; select Connect RememberKit again to restart it.
Confirm it is working
Complete an active trip, either through your normal trip automation or by manually stopping it. With Internet access available, the number of drafts waiting to upload should return to zero. Open RememberKit drafts appears after a successful upload and opens your blog's administration page.
In RememberKit, find the new unpublished post. Check its trip details, add your own writing or photos, and publish it yourself.
What the draft contains
BoatKit includes the trip name, start and end times in UTC, duration, distance in nautical miles, endpoint names, arrival position when available, and the notes saved when the trip completed. The arrival position places the post on RememberKit's map. BoatKit does not upload the full passage track or photos, or generate a narrative about events that were not recorded.
Only future completions of active trips create drafts. Enabling the integration does not import earlier trips, and editing, merging, splitting, or recovering historical trips does not create posts. Changes made after completion do not update the queued snapshot or the RememberKit post. Repeated delivery attempts preserve your edits, publication choice, and deletions in RememberKit.
Offline operation
BoatKit saves completed trips and their pending drafts locally while offline. It retries uploads automatically when Internet access returns, including after a vessel runtime restart. Onboard trip logging and other local features continue without RememberKit access.
A dedicated BoatKit device can upload whenever its vessel runtime is running. An app-hosted vessel can upload while its runtime remains active; mobile operating-system suspension pauses delivery.
Turning off Automatic trip drafts pauses pending uploads and prevents newly completed trips from being queued. Re-enable it to resume the existing queue. Change RememberKit blog or Disconnect blog discards drafts still waiting for the previous connection.
Backups and access changes
BoatKit's portable backups preserve the integration settings and blog selection. Authorization and pending uploads are excluded, so reconnect RememberKit after restoring a backup. Your recorded trip history remains available in BoatKit, and posts already created in RememberKit remain there.
If the RememberKit account loses ownership of the selected blog, uploads stop. Reconnect with an account that currently owns the blog. The connection grants permission to create unpublished trip posts only; publishing stays under your control in RememberKit. The blog-specific key has no automatic expiry. Use Manage RememberKit connections to revoke it from RememberKit at any time.
Troubleshooting
- No blogs found: Check that you signed in to the RememberKit account that owns the blog. Create a blog if needed, then connect again.
- A draft is waiting: Check Internet access and the error shown in the integration panel. BoatKit retries automatically.
- Access was revoked: Reconnect the blog using its current owner account.
- No draft was queued: Check that the blog is linked and Automatic trip drafts was enabled when an active trip ended. Older trips and history edits are not imported.
