Show published calendars in a saved view

Show your published calendars side by side in a saved view when you need to see when people are available without showing event details.

You need administrator access and a published HTTPS iCalendar (ICS) feed link from each calendar provider. Get the link from the provider and manage its sharing permissions there. A web calendar page ending in .html is not an ICS feed.

Add calendars to a view​

  1. In Settings > Integrations, add a Published Calendar for each feed. Give each one a recognizable name and enter its published link in ICS link. You can add any number of calendars.
  2. Open the saved view and edit it. Add a Calendar Day View item.
  3. Open the Calendar item's settings, select the calendars to show, and choose a color for each one.
  4. Save the view.

You can pause or resume fetching an integration with Calendar feed under Settings > Integrations.

Confirm it is working​

Open the saved view. Each selected calendar has its own vertical column for the current day, in the viewer's local time. A line marks the current time. BoatKit shows busy, tentative, and out-of-office intervals; free and transparent events are omitted. Event titles and descriptions are never shown in the view.

BoatKit refreshes enabled feeds in the background about every 15 minutes. Under Settings > Integrations, Last updated shows when a feed was last fetched successfully.

Sharing, backups, and offline use​

Anyone who has a provider's published link may be able to read its feed. Calendar selection and color only control what this view displays; manage access and sharing with the calendar provider.

BoatKit stores each ICS link as a device secret and excludes it from portable backups. After restoring a vessel, enter the link again. Calendar names, saved view selections, and colors are backed up.

If a feed update fails, availability already downloaded during the current runtime remains visible with an error indicator. A newly started BoatKit runtime without Internet has no calendar availability until it can fetch the feed. Fetching recovers in the background when the connection returns. Local vessel operations and other dashboard items remain usable offline.

If availability does not appear​

  1. Check that ICS link contains a published HTTPS ICS feed, not a .html calendar page.
  2. Check that Calendar feed is enabled and that the vessel can reach the calendar provider.
  3. Check that the Calendar Day View item's selection includes the intended integration, then save the view.
  4. Look for an error indicator on the calendar column or an error under Settings > Integrations. If you have just added the link or restored a vessel, allow time for a background fetch.
