Accounts and signing in
Your BoatKit account carries your vessel list and account access across the BoatKit apps and the account portal. Use the same verified email address when signing in with a password, Google, Apple, or Microsoft to use the same account.
You need an internet connection to sign in or add another login method.
- Open the BoatKit account portal or the account login in a BoatKit app.
- Choose Log in to BoatKit, or Sign Up to BoatKit to create your first account, and complete the login with your chosen method.
- If you use email and a password, verify your email before completing login. When choosing another provider, use a provider account with the same verified email as your existing BoatKit account.
- After login, check the vessel list. Signing in does not register a new vessel or grant access to someone else's vessel; pairing or an access grant does that.
Confirm it is working
Signing in through another provider with the same verified email opens your existing BoatKit account. Your accepted access and existing vessel permissions continue to apply. You do not need to confirm a link or sign in with both methods.
Email capitalization does not create another account. Addresses with different
+ suffixes or dots are treated as different addresses, even if your email
provider delivers them to the same inbox. To keep separate BoatKit accounts,
use distinct email addresses.
If Apple supplies a private relay address through Hide My Email, BoatKit sees that relay address as a different email. Use the same email address across your login methods when you want them to share a BoatKit account.
If your vessel list is different
Check the email supplied by the selected provider, including any plus suffix or Apple private relay address. If your older account still has the vessels and your emails match, contact BoatKit support about the existing duplicate accounts. Keep using the original login method while those accounts are migrated.
For a forgotten password, use the password recovery option on the email and password login screen. Google, Apple, and Microsoft account recovery is handled by that provider. In the account portal, open the account menu and choose Log out before signing in with another account.
Without an internet connection
New account login and adding a provider need the internet. A registered vessel's local BoatKit operation continues offline. Previously issued local sessions and the vessel's emergency administrator password provide local access; remote BoatKit Cloud access needs a working cloud connection.
